Information you submit

We process the advert text and vehicle details you submit to generate a report. If you add a registration, the server uses it to request official DVSA vehicle data. The application does not save registrations or report inputs to a database, and registrations are not included in analytics or affiliate URLs.

For the optional AI-assisted summary, the submitted advert text is sent to OpenAI. OpenAI processes that text under its own terms. Do not paste personal data that is not needed for the vehicle check.

Logs and security

Our hosting providers may create ordinary request, security and error logs, which can include IP address, browser information, timestamps and requested routes. Application error messages use broad categories and are designed not to record registrations, advert text or request bodies.

Analytics, cookies and local storage

Google Analytics is our only analytics service. It is not loaded and does not set analytics cookies unless you select "Accept analytics". If you reject analytics, the checker and its results continue to work normally. Analytics events do not contain registrations, advert text, seller contact details, postcodes or free-text errors.

We save your choice for 12 months in the essential first-party ucc_analytics_consent cookie. It stores only granted or denied. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using "Cookie settings" in the footer.

Withdrawing consent stops future analytics tracking and removes recognised Google Analytics cookies accessible to this site on a best-effort basis. Google may retain data collected before withdrawal according to the configured retention period and its own terms. We do not use local storage for submitted report data.

Affiliate links

We record a one-time impression and a click event for the primary commercial placement using the partner identifier, placement, broad score band and report type. We never attach a registration or advert content. A partner processes your visit under its own privacy policy after you follow its link.

Purpose, lawful basis and retention

We process submitted information to provide the service you request. We use analytics only with your consent. We use limited security data for our legitimate interests in protecting and improving the service. Google retains analytics data under the site owner's configured terms; those settings should be reviewed before launch and data kept no longer than necessary.

Your rights and changes

Depending on UK data-protection law, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Use the Contact page for privacy requests. We may update this policy when providers or features change and will revise the review date.
